Keith Urban has released the music video for his festive holiday song, "I'll Be Your Santa Tonight."
In the clip, Urban sings the song in a picture-perfect wintery setting featuring twinkling lights, pine trees, and a gentle snowfall. He also plays several instruments throughout the video, including bass, guitar, and piano.
"I wanted to keep the video loose and a bit more performance-based than the actual story line, because everybody has their own version of what a song should look like, so I didn't want to touch on that too much," Urban explains.
"I'll Be Your Santa Tonight," co-written by Urban alongside Shane McAnally, marks the country star's first-ever holiday song. "I've always wanted to record a Christmas song, but I really wanted to try and write something new," Urban says. "So, Shane came to my house and we wrote, really about a Christmas gone terribly wrong. No snow. Too much fog. Nobody can make it to the party. It's going to be a colorless Christmas, until her man comes through."
The track starts off a bit dreary as Urban sings about no snow, dense fog, and no family around for the holiday season.
"The weatherman says / It ain't gonna snow this year / And the fog is too heavy / To cut a path for the reindeer / Your sister's stuck in Denver / And your momma can't come," Urban sings.
However, the story takes a turn for the better. "But you don't have to be alone (I'll tell you why)," he sings before diving into the chorus.
"I'll bring the magic / I'll bring the lights / I'll make you a star / At the top of the tree / Shinin' so bright / You don't need a chimney / 'Cause I'll be your fire / Let's put a kiss at the top of your list / We can be naughty or nice / Don't worry baby / I'll be your Santa tonight."
