Gabby Barrett delivered her own spin on Dolly Parton’s 70s classic, “Jolene.”

The cover appears on a newly-debuted EP of live performances that Barrett released on Friday (August 2). “Jolene” appears as one of three tracks on the Live Sessions collection, along with renditions of Barrett’s “Dance Like No One’s Watching” and “Off The Highway.”

“Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene/ I’m begging of you please don't take my man/ Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene/ Please don't take him just because you can”

Barrett, 24, released her long-awaited sophomore album earlier this year. Chapter & Verse was in the works for about three years before its debut on February 2024. Barrett co-produced the album and co-wrote nine of the 14 tracks. “Dance Like No One’s Watching” quickly became a fan-favorite on the album. The heartfelt father-daughter ballad was written by Emily Weisband, James McNair and Luke Combs, who provides backing vocals on the song. Barrett wrote “Off The Highway” with McNair, Weisband and Seth Mosley.

Barrett’s album offered a glimpse of her life as a wife to fellow artist Cade Foehner and a mother to three young children. Barrett and Foehner, 28, met when they were contestants on American Idol in 2018. They got married in Texas, Foehner’s home state, in 2019. They welcomed daughter Baylah May in January 2021, followed by son Augustine Boone in October 2022, and daughter Ivy Josephine (Ivy Jo) in February 2024, weeks after Chapter & Verse’s debut. Barrett performed for the first time since welcoming Baby No. 3 when she made her debut at the legendary Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. Now, she’s gearing up for a list of upcoming tour stops throughout the year.
