Is This The New Way "Reaching Adulthood" Is Defined?

Grow up and pay your phone bill…

Research has shown that parents these days are financially supporting their kids further and further into adulthood – paying for their cars, their rent, and even their groceries. But it's not until they stop paying for this one big expense that their kids truly begin to feel like they're finally on their own. A new survey, conducted by AT&T, found that the majority of grown kids don't realize they're adults until their parents make them pay their own phone bills.

76% of Americans say their first sign of reaching adulthood is having to pay for their phone service, and on average, that typically occurs at age 27. Still, 32% of people don’t start paying their own cell phone bill until they are 30 or older, and 18% don’t take on that responsibility until after they’ve turned 40.
