Jason Aldean Almost Didn’t Record Thomas Rhett’s “Big Green Tractor”

Jason Aldean admitted the song he won't ever play live again and his hot take on encores all while he was stopping by The Bobby Bones Show to talk new music and his latest number 1 to country radio.

Aldean is just like ordinary people, he admits he will Door Dash to his house often so much so that his Door Dashers know him at this point. He won't have a dirty towel for too many days and he must wash his jeans every time after wearing them. He's not much of a wearing clothes multiple times without washing them kind of guy. At this moment in his career, Aldean is doing what he has always been doing and having fun with it. For the last 6-8 months, he has been recording his new album. He just finished his part on everything in the last 3 weeks, so the record is currently in the mixing and mastering phase. He put a few duets on the project, and said his next single will be off this new record, however there is no release date on anything yet.

In recent weeks, Aldean had a collaboration with John Morgan "Friends Like That" go number 1. Aldean's friends sent them Morgan's music and told him that he had to listen. He ended up signing Morgan to his imprint label and publishing company to be a songwriter. His song "Friends Like That" was already hitting, but they decided to add Aldean to the song to help push Morgan's song up the charts as well as get him the exposure he deserved. Aldean say he's been lucky enough to have several number 1s, so it means a lot to him to be able to help a young artist that he believes in, make it to number 1. Now Aldean's solo song "Whiskey Drink" is set to go number 1. He loved this song almost immediately because when the chorus kicks in, it's so catchy to him. It's one of those songs that his little crew got and sent over to him, he wanted to cut it as soon as he could.

Aldean has been spending a lot of time on the road in recent years touring, and he admits the travel is sometimes exhausting. From eating all the gas station food to not getting much sleep, it's not very glamorous. Aldean isn't a big fan of encores at shows, he doesn't like when an artist baits the audience to hear their biggest song so for him he will just play everything and when he leaves the stage, it's all over. He opened up about two songs in particular that he likely won't ever play live again "1994," and "Johnny Cash." Neither of these songs go with anything else they do on stage. Then one of Aldean's biggest songs "Big Green Tractor" almost didn't happen, Thomas Rhett wrote it but Aldean wasn't a huge fan of the song itself besides the line about Joe Diffie.

When Aldean was first getting started, he had an old guitar that he would play in the clubs. He also wore a belt buckle every time, but he has since retired both the old guitar and the belt bucket. The Country Music Hall of Fame had his guitar for awhile, but it's back at his house now. He's had 4 guitars over the years, they've always been custom Gibson stuff. He shared that his acoustics are his babies and he has two Rickenbacker whenever he plays electric. The one Aldean started with was given to him by his dad when he was younger, and that's why he retired it from the road.
