Eddie’s Son Nearly Gets Scammed and Amy’s Chicken Bone Scare

It was a day of close calls on The Bobby Bones Show, one involving a car, the other involving a chicken bone.

First up: Eddie’s teenage son just wanted a simple oil change. But instead, he nearly got taken for hundreds of dollars. “He was over 3,000 miles, so I told him to just go get his oil changed,” Eddie explained. “Then he calls me three times in a row and that’s when I know something’s up.” When Eddie picked up, his son was panicked. “He goes, ‘Dad, they say my car’s completely messed up! I need an engine flush, a new air filter, and my battery’s about to die. They said I may not make it home.’” That’s when Eddie knew something wasn’t right. “There’s no way,” he said. “He drove there just fine! So I told him to come home.”

Once his son got back, Eddie tested the battery himself and it was perfect. “The fact that they told a 17-year-old he might not make it home… such scammers,” Bobby said. Amy agreed, saying, “They saw a vulnerable young adult and tried to squeeze him for everything.” The show joked about how those places always try to upsell you. “They pull out a dirty air filter, but how do we even know that’s yours?” Eddie said. “I bet they just have a gross one in the back they show everyone.” Eddie said his son learned a valuable lesson: “Just go in for the oil change. That’s it. Everything else, we’ll figure out later.”

Then it was Amy’s turn to share her unexpected (and slightly terrifying) moment, she accidentally swallowed a chicken bone. “I made soup using a rotisserie chicken, and I think a little bone slipped in,” she said. “By the time I felt it, it was already in my throat. I took a gentle swallow and just hoped it would go down okay.” Amy admitted she panicked and immediately Googled what to do, which led her to a “Health Minute” from the University of Utah. “It said if the bone’s really sharp or over three inches, go to the ER. Otherwise, it’ll probably pass with no problem,” she explained. “Mine was tiny, so I decided I was fine.” Bobby joked about his luck in the same situation: “Knowing me, it would make it all the way through my body and then get sideways right before coming out. That’s my luck with a chicken bone.”

The show wrapped up by connecting the two stories with some good takeaways. “Don’t trust oil change people,” Bobby said. “And if you swallow a chicken bone, grab a tape measure, if it’s under three inches, you’re probably fine.” Amy added with a laugh, “Glad both of us made it out okay!”
